A Passover Meditation
We have passed through the waters of forgiveness into freedom!

The Israelites’ deliverance from judgment at Passover by the blood of spotless lambs foreshadows our deliverance from judgment through the blood of the Passover Lamb, Yeshua the Messiah.

The Israelites’ subsequent deliverance out of the enemy’s control through the Red Sea foreshadows our deliverance out of the enemy’s control through our new birth in the Holy Spirit.
We have passed through the waters of forgiveness into freedom!

Passover is a time to reflect upon this great and costly deliverance! Our awareness of the depth of our sin and the enemy’s prior mastery over us[2] is commensurate to the depth of our praise and gratitude to God[3]. The Apostle Paul wrote:

Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump just as you are unleavened for Messiah our Passover has been sacrificed. Therefore, let us celebrate the Feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.[4]

Remembering our deliverance does not mean we revisit past sins. Yeshua endured a horrific execution to pay for, forgive, and take away our sins. “He endured the cross, despising the shame…”[5] He took on our shame, so we would not be shamed. He was rejected and disgraced in our place.[6] We are accepted in the beloved![7] Father may draw us into repentance, but once we “confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”[8]

After Moses and the sons of Israel were delivered from the enemy through the Red Sea, they sang[9]:

I will sing to the Yahweh[10] for He is highly exalted!
The horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea!
The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation!
This is my God[11], and I will praise Him,
My father’s God[12], and I will exalt Him.
The Lord
[13] is a warrior;
Yahweh is His name!

Hundreds of years later, King David sang[14]:

I waited patiently for Yahweh, and He inclined to me and heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a pit of destruction, out of the miry clay.
And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.
And He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our Creator!
Many will see and be in awe with reverence and will trust in Yahweh.

Yahweh delivers us through the waters, washes us, and sets us on a rock making our footsteps firm. Subsequent trials result in further washing and shaping. Our journey is from glory to glory, from clarity to more clarity. Only greater light awaits us as we let His Spirit live in us! “The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn that shines brighter and brighter until the full day!”[15]  Happy Passover! Happy Resurrection!

[1] Along with The Feast of the Lamb found at ShaleFragments.com, this meditation can be used if you have a few

people over for Passover for a time of fellowship. Your celebration can be simple – a meal, communion, a candle, and an empty chair for Yeshua. Each person may read the verses from The Feast of the Lamb and share their stories of deliverance throughout their lives. Include singing and prayer. “After they sang a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.” (Matthew 26:30; Mark 14:26)
