I am New
January – I am New
New is the Hebrew chādāsh and means new, fresh, born again.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26v
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In His great mercy He caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3
Therefore if anyone be in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Sing to the Lord a new song, sing His praise from the end of the earth! Isaiah 42:10a

When we receive Jesus the Messiah, our Father God brings us into an eternal, intimate, covenant relationship with Himself by the Holy Spirit. He gives us names that describe our identity as those who have been born again into His family. They remain constant even though the clouds of our feelings, circumstances, weakness, grief, failure, and emotions may hide their reality. We have this hope as an anchor of our souls, a hope both sure and steadfast...(Hebrews 6:19)
The devotional on the back of the I am New Art Card:
I am New.
When January arrives, I think of deep blue colors and crisp cold skies representing a fresh slate. The seven snowflakes symbolize the completion of our union with God once we are born into His family.
The prophets of old foretold this promised union that would come through the gift of the Holy Spirit that would be given when Jesus ascended to heaven.
While on earth, Jesus taught that we must be born again of His Spirit. (John 3:1-8) Jesus’ beloved disciple John wrote, “But to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13)
Our new birth is not a result of our upbringing, church attendance or human effort, but a miraculous gift of God!
When we open our hearts to His Gift, a new creation comes into existence and we can say. “I am New!”
Thank you, Lord, for making me New! Strengthen me by Your Spirit to walk in the new life you’ve given me through Jesus the Messiah Who crushed my sin and secured my redemption!

Welcome to Shale Fragments, a collection of writings and art for individual and group use!
Teaching God’s truth and the beauty of His Word is my greatest delight! My art card company, Flower Girl Greetings, was launched in 2012 with this purpose. In April 2020, ShaleFragments.com became the gathering place for the writings.
As I have studied the rich meanings of the original Greek and Hebrew languages of the Bible, I continue to see beautiful progressions and connections that compel me to organize and convey their life-changing beauty!
