Maidens in the midst
Let us exalt His Name together!

In July of 2012, some friends in our precious home group congregated in our basement to pose for pictures from which I would paint. Maidens in the midst  was created from that photo shoot. The letters are crudely painted with Watercolor Art Masking Fluid...

The watercolor was painted over the letters. Then, the dried masking fluid was peeled off to reveal the white, cold-pressed, cotton, watercolor paper underneath. It is very difficult to create letters with masking fluid!

The three ladies in Maidens in the midst are Jessie, Sonya, and me, clothed in gowns of praise in a circle of joy! The Psalmist sings, Worship the Lord in holy attire. (Psalm 96:9a) The Hebrew words for attire in this verse is hădârâh’ and means decoration, adornment, beauty and honor and is found in the context of worship. It connotes clothing for the purpose of celebrating and honoring the Lord – like the beautiful flags and clothing that artists create for worship.

The words on the front of the Maidens in the midst Art Card are: Let us exalt His Name together! (from Psalm 68:24-26) The words on the back of the card are:

Praise God in the gathering!
Praise Him in His sanctuary!
The singers go out in front,
the musicians come after
in the midst of the maidens
playing the timbrels!
Psalm 68:24-26

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth!
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord;
the humble shall hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt His name together!
I sought the Lord, and He heard me
and delivered me from all my fears
Psalm 34:1-4

Welcome to Shale Fragments, a collection of writings and art for individual and group use!

Teaching God’s truth and the beauty of His Word is my greatest delight! My art card company, Flower Girl Greetings, was launched in 2012 with this purpose. In April 2020, ShaleFragments.com became the gathering place for the writings.

As I have studied the rich meanings of the original Greek and Hebrew languages of the Bible, I continue to see beautiful progressions and connections that compel me to organize and convey their life-changing beauty!
