The original art for this card was commissioned by a counselor for his office wall. It was quite large and matted and framed. The art is called an illumination because the text has been decorated. It incorporates four calligraphy styles:
A chiseled Roman capital drawn and painted with watercolor and an acanthus leaf border;
Gothic letters created with a chisel brush;
Crimson script created with a pointed brush; and
Green letters created with a wedge brush in the italic style.
The text on the back of the card is:
The apostle Paul wrote these words to his beloved son in the faith, Timothy.
Paul charges him to keep the fire of his faith burning brightly and to be strong in the power, love and steady boldness that are in Christ Jesus even in the midst of adversity.
